Hey there, we’re Talent Beacon! Since 2014, we’ve been serving the youth and residents of Bukit Batok. Today, we specialise in providing academic support and after-school programs for youth at our centre, TAVA.

WE ARE HOSTING A BAKE SALE YALLLLL 🔔🔔🔔 This Dec, Talent Beacon has partnered with our friends over at @thecoloursfoundation to run a Home Sweep Home makeover for youth camp. Every dollar raised will be going to a home renovation for an uncle with chronic conditions — we’ll be buying paint and furniture for their living room and bedroom. Our own youth will be there on 10 Dec to help declutter, organise and paint the residents’ homes! :)

We’re offering two flavours: Choc Chip ($12/200g) and Biscoff Macadamia ($15/200g), but the good news is that if you buy two bottles and above, we offer a $2 discount per jar. Please help us to spread the word, and you can order through the link in our bio :) DM us for any inquiries or help to fill out the form.

Nearing the Mid-Autumn Festival 🏮🥮🌕, the TAVA kids decided they wanted some mooncake so Aunty Sandie taught them a quick and modern way to whip some up from scratch :)

We can’t believe it’s been 10 YEARS since we began journeying at Bukit Batok! 🫶🏼🫶🏼 On Sunday, we hosted a dinner for both the Academic Guidance and Thursday walkabouts team. Members of our community shared their favourite memories with us, and students from the Academic Guidance programme expressed their appreciation for their teachers ✨😭 We also got to hear about the wonderful activities our Centre Manager, Aunty Sandie, has been hosting at TAVA — we can’t wait for you to see what they’ve created on our IG soon :)

We ended the night by celebrating one of our longest-serving TAVA team members, Bryan (@kohbaebeef)! He first started giving tuition with us in university at the HDB void deck, and was instrumental in creating the Academic Guidance programme for the primary and secondary school students in our Bukit Batok community. Today, we offer both Math and English help on Mondays and Thursdays respectively for more than 20 students! 🙏🏼💖

To wrap up, Ps Darren and Jessmyn, our Directors, sum up this very heartbeat that resounds in all of our hearts — we love, because He first loved us. Thank you once again to all our volunteers who answered the call when He asked. To God be the Glory and many more years to come! :)

Last Thursday, some of the TAVA kids decided they wanted to give their teachers a very… interesting 🤨 gift. To our TAVA teacher volunteers and all teachers out there, happy Teachers’ Day! Thank you for dealing with everything we bring you 😭🫶🏼

On Saturday, TAVA proudly marked its official opening, reaffirming our dedication to serving the residents and youth of Bukit Batok. We were deeply honoured by the presence of Minister Desmond Lee (Minister for National Development and Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration), Mr. Murali Pillai (Minister of State for Transport and Minister of State for Law), and Dr. Robbie Goh (Patron of TAVA and Provost of SUSS), who graciously unveiled the dedication plaque for our centre.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Minister Desmond Lee and Mr. Murali Pillai for their kind words and unwavering support for our efforts within the community. Over the past decade, TAVA has journeyed alongside the residents and families of Bukit Batok, continually supported by the time, love, and dedication of our volunteers. As TAVA continues to serve this community, we hope to build up a wealth of resources and opportunities that our youth can use to grow, while strengthening the support networks they find in their homes and communities.

This joyous occasion was made even more memorable by our student volunteer, Linus, who skillfully emceed the event, and the talented TAVA band, who captivated the audience with their performance of pop hits like “Count on Me” and “One Thing”. Over food, drinks, and laughter, we celebrated this day with our dedicated volunteers, supportive partners and cherished members of the community, all of whom make our mission possible. Truly, we love because He first loved us ❤️

Our favourite part was watching their eyes light up when they found the solution, just like Bella’s did when they stumbled upon one location in the pursuit of another 👀 They definitely enjoyed their doughnut at the end. In today’s world, getting the right support we need to keep going has become easier. If you or your families would like to know what services are available, please reach out to us on any of our platforms. TAVA is grateful for the opportunity to serve as a shelter from today’s storm ⛈️
